November 2004 Bay View Compass Editorial
Dear Bay View Compass Readers,
I'd like to first congratulate the Bay View Compass on their first issue and express my gratitude for helping to inform our neighborhood. I would also like to introduce myself, I am your Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic who represents the residents of the 4th District. I am looking forward to keeping you updated on what's happening in our community as well as the projects I am involved with on your behalf here at the Milwaukee County Board.
It is a very busy time here at the Milwaukee County Board as we prepare to pass our 2005 County Budget. I have been busy attending our budget hearings and listening to your concerns on which county services are important to you. Many of you have responded to the surveys I have sent out and have called my office to ensure your voice is heard. In this year's budget I was able to ensure that the $ 2 million Phase II funding for the South Shore Bike Trail and Shoreline Protection Project was appropriated. There are also nearly no cuts being made to our Milwaukee County Parks and the Milwaukee County Transit System, two services which I regularly receive the most input on.
Milwaukee County also just unveiled it's proposal for the Redevelopment of the Park East Lands, where we are one of the largest landowners in the area. I am a co-sponsor of this legislation and believe this will bring new life to our near downtown neighborhoods and also provide great jobs, which are in high demand all over our community.
