IN THE COMMUNITY
Supervisor De Bruin was recently appointed to serve on the newly formed Special Needs Housing Commission. This on-going commission will expand upon the work of the Special Needs Housing Task Force which Supervisor De Bruin also served on and was the body that recommended the creation of a permanent commission to address community housing needs for persons with severe and persistent mental illness in our community. The Commission will work with housing developers, governmental bodies, consumers, and care organizations to expand the availability of quality community housing for persons with mental illness. Meetings will be open to the public and will be listed on this site.
The Lakefront Development Advisory Commission will hold a meeting in early March on the proposed demolition of the Coast Guard Station at Lake Michigan and plans for a pavilion and other amenities at the site. Final date and time are not yet announced but will be posted on this site when finalized.
